This album is an expression of what 2022 felt like to me. It was a tumultuous year full of emotion, many of which I didn't want to feel. The first half of the year I wanted to have time stand still, but by the end of the year I wanted it decades behind me.

My mother passed on November 14, 2023, but it wasn't quick, sudden, or expected before the beginning of the year. Winter and spring brought health concerns that had me in fear. By summer's end, she had been put in hospice at home. My father was dedicated and by her side until the very end, but the feelings weren't anything he nor I could anticipate.

Ten days after he passing, we had to "celebrate" American Thanksgiving, one of her favorite holidays, without her, - still deep in our grief. Then Christmas, my parents 51st wedding anniversary, and her birthday all before the 3rd week in January. Her birthday is a tough day already because we lost her father that day 8 years ago.

I'm crying as I write this, but I've done significant healing since her passing. When I think about her, I'm still sad, but releasing this EP puts a pin in my active grieving. Thank you for listening.
